Shoesday - Halloween

One of my favourite times of the year is Halloween, simply because I get an excuse to dress up... the sweets are an added plus. So I've been excited looking at inspiration for costumes, and spent quite a while searching for Halloween themed shoes that will make any devil, vampire, ghost - you name it - look fab! Here are some of my inspirations:

RED

These blood red heels would look great if you're dressing as a devil, with glitter options adding extra glam. The rounded t-bar shoes would suit a little red riding hood, a scary-but-cute doll, or even a Dorothy if you want a less creepy fancy dress!

VAMP

Think gothic lace, frills and dark shades; these shoes would be perfect for any vampire or Victorian  themed costume. I love the different textures of velvet and lace, and the shiny patent shoes would bring the look up to date. Match with dark lipstick and an up do for the ultimate themed look.

WITCH

Even a witch can have a fashionable side with these sparkling, bright and fun designs that will make you stand out (for the right reasons)! Again, I think glitter boots are a great choice, though you can add colour to an all black outfit with metallics and vivid purple or blue.

Autumn Hues

The last few weekends I've been travelling up to Nottingham so it's been nice to finally stay at home! Although I can never stay in for too long, and took a trip to Namco Funscape in Southwark. It's a great arcade with retro games like Pacman, I managed to embarrass myself on the dance machine, bumper cars, and in bowling... I was pretty awful. But it was nostalgic, it brought out my inner child (not like that's hard)  I would definitely recommend it for a fun day out. So here I am after my trip feeling slightly more adultlike. I'm wearing my favourite jacket for colder weather as it's padded, and it being oversized makes me feel instantly cosy. Though my love for pastel colours won't fade I felt like keeping things dark with this outfit, with neutral tan heels (I like how they match the autumn leaves). Hope you like :).

I'm back!
Though the sad thing is, I haven't really been anywhere. So apologies for my appalling attempt at being a blogger, I am now back on my way to being a keen blogging bean. Thought I'd share some of my better attempts at joining the Instagram buzz recently, with a few of my snaps. I'm really enjoying using it and have to refrain from posting too many animals! Here is a mix from my profile littlemirrorx
Thought my post with the inspirational quote, 'it's never too late...' is very apt for my first blog post in weeks.

Summer Sun

Looking forward to wearing my jumpers and getting snug for Autumn (dreaming of a pastel coat), though as the sun is still shining, I might as well make the most of it! So I've gone for an extra bright, colourful outfit this week, with these pretty lemon yellow peep-toe heels. I love to match pastel, light shades so I've teamed the shoes with a pale pink dog-tooth skirt and mint nails. Hope you enjoy the sun :).

Shoesday

It's time for another Shoesday Tuesday, and I think that these shoes are pretty all white... Yeah, I went there. I am not a massive fan of the big platformed white sandals that have really hit off over summer. These shoes come in more classic styles, though they have interesting designs, textures or patterns. White is a great colour choice for shoes because it will goes with almost every other shade yet will give an outfit impact!

Style Icon - Kate Bosworth

Kate Bosworth makes even the casual t-shirt and jeans combo look ultra chic as she teams similar colours with toned down hair and makeup, making her style look effortless. In the latest issue of In Style magazine, she stated that 'I never walk out the door feeling uncomfortable', which can be seen with her simple pieces, flats and understated accessorising. Kate is one of my icons because she inspires me with her minimal yet stylish approach to fashion. Here are some of her looks, hope you enjoy!

Skort Off - Look 2

Happy bank holiday everyone! It's time for my second skort look. I've used the same top, so the skorts stand out more. Which one do you like most?

Trend Report - AW14

Though summer is still at its peak I can't wait to see how the latest AW14/15 trends will be adapted for the high street. Here are some of my favourite looks from the catwalks:

The Suit:
From the rich jewel tones of Dior's fitted two-pieces, to Gucci's 'geek chic' looks set with bold framed glasses and Stella McCartney's effortlessly sleek suits, I can't get enough of this autumn trend. I've always loved the appeal of androgynous looks and I do feel empowered when sporting more traditionally masculine styles. However these suits do retain femininity either in their elegant cuts, colourways, or sophisticated loose forms that frame and elongate the body.

Sweet Shop Shades:

Although candy-cane colours are usually associated with spring/summer, I'm delighted to see that these pretty shades are still sweet for autumn/winter! Whether they're coolly metallic, as the likes of Ashish and Miu Miu show, or in muted neons, seen with Christopher Kane, Alexander Wang and Carven, I'm all for this fresh take on the autumn palette.

Red:

I really need more red in my life. I feel that the vibrant, bold shade suits anyone, it's a great colour for creating an impact. With D&G's play on Little Red Riding Hood, this colour is also perfect for getting into the Christmas season. Other designers have opted for a more casual uptake on red by breaking it up and incorporating it in more modern forms. I particularly like Johnathan Saunders' mix of deep pink and red in patchwork patterns.

Embroidered & Embellished:

It's going to be a winter wonderland of the folkloric and mystical this upcoming season, with embroidered lace featuring fairytale designs. Expect embellishment, beading, and heavily textured pieces. And don't forget the capes!

Summer Love

I've had an exciting week starting my first graduate job in London, so I'm sorry I haven't had a chance to post in a while! But, this weekend I'll have a chance to relax, reflect, and enjoy the sun :).

Shoesday - Florals

I've had a busy week travelling between London and Nottingham, so haven't had time to do my shoesday Tuesday post. So it looks like it will have to be a floral Friday, with bold blooms and pretty petals adorning these summer shoes.

Leopard and a Bear

Leopards and bears aren't the likeliest of friends, but they teamed together this week to make my casual outfit a bit more interesting. The bear can't really fit much in its belly, though it's the cutest lip gloss holder for sure! It's just so compact, I really like the silver detailing on its ears, feet and clasp. And my trainers are my favourite flat shoes, they're very good for when I go for a stroll!

Home Sweet Home

I'm finally back at home and loving spending time with my family and my cute dog Milly! Plus, I get to share my sister's clothes which is a win for me... I'm looking forward to heading out to London again for some adventures, but first it's time to relax with some home comforts after a busy few weeks in Nottingham.

July Wishlist

I'm sure that my wishlists are growing larger by the month, and I really did have to refrain from adding everything I liked. It seems I'm still loving pastel shades and metallics this month, but I've added a few bright colours, and a more diverse range of items fit for summer!

In Bloom

Floral print is a summer staple for me, though this skirt can be worn all year round; the A-line with it's monochrome pattern would work well for any occasion. I really am a shirt fanatic, and my loose fitting shirt is perfect for me in this pretty deep pink/red shade. Being a (former) student however, my ironing skills aren't quite up to scratch, so unfortunately my shirt comes with creases.
