New Things

I have a lot of unusual things in my room, though I must admit, when I walked in from work recently to find this book on my bed, I did find it quite weird. Was someone trying to tell me something? Did I need to write to someone I admired and didn't even know about? Nope, it was my mum, who found this in the local charity shop and thought it was up my street. It is a nice looking book, and it was a fun read with lots of examples of the different love letters from the casual to delirious - I'll have to try out writing one some time! I also got a few presents; the cute Topshop scrunchie which makes me feel like I have tiny bunny ears on my head; my bright red L'Oreal Color Riche lipstick in Pure Red, which stays well and somehow tastes great; and some My Little Pony tattoos, just for fun. I also got a rose gold watch which goes with almost everything and isn't to large for me as I'm not a major accessory wearer. Finally, I topped up of my favourite perfume by Vera Wang.

I had these photos taken a while ago (hence the massive coat) though thought I may as well put them up! Especially since I'm wearing the coolest crop I own - who doesn't love a bit of Hagrid? I've opted for dark colours with a sheer maxi skirt which makes me feel more 'witch' like, in the hope that I'd be worthy of Hogwarts... But if that fails, Rock on Ruby have some other fun tops and jumpers, channeling mermaids, unicorns and even Mean Girls. Worth a look!

Trend Report - Step Into Spring A-Z

The 70's queen reigned over the catwalks for SS15, strutting forward in hippie chic fringing and flowing, flowered boho dresses. Suede tassles, leather boots and denim shorts reminiscent of cowgirls and Indians, stood alongside models in rock-chick flares, sequins and stars & stripes. An unusual interplay of Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter took place for many designers, who showcased long jackets, jumpers and brilliant furs among the dainty sheers and delicate fabrics. One of my top picks would have to be Giambattista Valli, whose elegant minimal top & skirt combos are patterned in fresh whites and pale pinks. I also love Miu Miu's looks boasting feminine high-waisted leather pencil skirts and ruffled crops, pretty pointed bow boots, and fur collared coats in pastels and bright reds. I particularly like Chanel's, Fendi's and Jonathan Saunders' take on reengaging and softening the masculine suit. Finally, Mary Katrantzou's beautiful sequinned floral pieces, D&G's cute floral sheer ankle socks and Lela Rose's vintage floral designs really got me excited about hitting Spring/Summer! I've created an A-Z trend guide, which again I got a bit carried away with, but should give an idea of how you can integrate the trends into your everyday looks.

Trend Report - Step into Spring - Colours

An array of sugar-hued and boldly bright colours illuminated the catwalks for SS15, in a fun mix of delicate embossments and striking prints, laces and ruffles, soft leathers and shimmering satins. Also featured for the season were darker shades of black, navy, rich purples and deep khakis, which worked harmoniously with the lighter shades to disrupt the traditional associations of colour for Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter. I did get a little overexcited in the making of my trend report posts, and ended up saving over 1000 images from Vogue to create these collages... I know. So here are some of my favourite designs showcasing the colour trends, from the earthen tans to the crisp whites and vivid yellows - enjoy!

I'm feeling 22

February is a very busy month for me given that most of my family have birthdays around this time, including my twin's and mine! Luckily for me I got to have double the celebrations, and so got to try out my two new jumpsuits. Being rather small I was a bit apprehensive about buying a jumpsuit, though with a bit of sewing I managed to not to trip over too much! I love the textured effect of the 70s style jumpsuit by Topshop, which is flecked with silver to add glamour to the understated grey design. I feel it's elegant with the Bardot shoulders, made stylish with the long wide-legged trousers. My favourite one however has to be my Nasty Gal black fitted jumpsuit. I love the bow sash that makes this jumpsuit a statement piece, furthered by the plunging sweetheart bust.
Which do you prefer?
