Dr Martens

Seeing as I raved about my unusual Dr Martens in my Christmas post, I thought I better get a move on and show you how they look! I really do think they're great with the school girl like straps and cute tassels, and make for a strange combination of pretty and Mod. Wearing my pink coat again now as the cold weather won't budge, and thought I'd match the shades of my shoes with my twin's beautiful leather bag, which she kindly let me borrow. I've also kept this outfit surprisingly practical, opting for jeans and a simple black polo. I never really wear jeans, but I like the fact that these are not high waisted (I have such a short body there's nothing of me left)!
I hope you like :) x

January Wishlist - Topshop

I've always spent far too much time trawling through countless pages online, looking desperately at the many different items I could only dream of buying. I'm sure most of us are familiar with the satisfaction that comes with continuously adding items to our virtual, dream basket, and the despair at having to abandon them, with great willpower, by quickly clicking off the page. I find online browsing a calming past time, having acquired quite the knack when it comes to efficiently ordering the page (mostly by price for this post-student) and opening hundreds of tabs in the hunt for the perfect outfit. This can very quickly turn into a stressful situation however, which is what I found when creating my January Wishlist. WHY do I become so attached to a piece of fabric or a few jewels? There is a very frivolous side to fashion where the cultural demand for trends churned out by the minute, cause distress for those like me who can't keep up with the costs attached. But I can't help admiring a well designed or interesting piece of clothing, which I value as more of a work of art and something that I can't resist wanting to wear!

Enough babbling for now, my problem creating this month's wishlist was, that when looking at my first destination - Topshop - I fell in love with almost everything on the site, so much so that I had to devote the entire wishlist to the store! Well played, Topshop. I will show you a few of my favourite pieces (believe me there were more). Again my eyes were caught by the metallics, pastels, and simply detailed pieces which perhaps reflects my style, and will persist beyond the changing trends.

Red Leather

As you may have seen in my previous posts, I really do like the combination of pink and red, as I feel the colours complement each other well. The pink and red shades in my post Colour Block, were rather vibrant, so here I've opted for muted tones which have a more wintry appeal. Again, I love mixing many textures in one look, and am especially pleased with my fluffy jumper bought for me as a Christmas present by my twin - she knows me so well! It's quite a plain outfit, so I added a bow to make it more girly, though this sadly broke during the snapping and my attempt to make one wasn't so good! Hope you enjoy, anyway :) x

Christmas Gifts

Hello! I hope you all had a very happy Christmas and a wonderful New Year! The festive period for me was celebrated with cheesy music, bad dancing and maybe a few too many cocktails... I was really lucky to get some lovely presents, and luckier to get a few stylish steals in the seasonal sales. I'll let you in on a few of my faves:

1. I must have made it known more than I realised that Alexa Chung is my ultimate fashion idol and inspiration. For when I eagerly unwrapped (well, frantically ripped open) my coveted IT book, I squealed with delight. The beautifully illustrated book glimpses into Chung's exciting lifestyle, with  fascinating photographs displaying her own inspirations, aspirations and personal life. It also features some nifty tips, which I will follow down to the letter, I really am a fan! I have read this book twice over already, and will be sure to cherish it.

2. We can all give ourselves a little Christmas treat right? I may have gone a bit overboard this year, but do not regret this purchase! I am a big Dr Marten lover, and browsing through the sales I stumbled upon these unusual shoes. I just couldn't put them down, I was entranced by the detailed snake print and its texture, the cute tassels and schoolgirl straps. As I got to the till the shop assistant told me, in a rather surprised way, that 'wow, these are the first pair we've sold!' He then brought over his colleague who too was shocked at the sale of this pair. I'm afraid I haven't had many good reactions from people I've shown off my new Docs to, though I love that they're unique and can't wait to strut them around in 2015!

3. From the age of 6 I've been in love with rabbits, and my 11 year old rabbit Suki is still roaming around in my garden. I was convinced that my first tattoo would be of a little rabbit in geometric lines, but who knew I would get the perfect design in necklace form? The necklace is probably the better option after all... This mini silver bunny is my perfect companion every day, anywhere.

4. Whenever I can, I steal my male friends' baggy tshirts and pyjamas to lounge around in. So when I came across these Calvin Klein boxer style shorts for women, I couldn't resist. I think they're great, especially with the vibrant pink elasticated band. I'm sure the guys will thank me for this buy!

5. I got these Bare Minerals eye shadow pots as a present from my mum's friend. The colours flecked with glitter are stunning, and I only need a small amount to create a strong golden smokey eye. These formed my New Year makeup look, and will be used throughout the year so long as I don't spill them.

6. And finally, I got my first Christmas hat, complete with large multicoloured baubles and flashing lights. This hat definitely goes into the spirit of things, and will be the first thing to get me excited when Christmas comes around this year!
